All living things need the sun to survive, including people. Without sunlight, we would soon perish from the earth. It lifts our spirits and energizes us and gives us great joy. But in recent years, we have become so afraid of the adverse effects of the sun, it has taken the pleasure out of our exposure to the great outdoors.
 
With all good things there is the risk of over indulgence, sun exposure is a good example. While the sun lifts our spirits, energizes us and gives joy, overexposure can result in sunburns or even skin cancer.
 
Skin cancer occurrences are increasing even though we're using sun protection products with higher SPF’s. Why is this? There are several theories regarding this growth. Recently the FDA decided that because we are using sunscreens containing and SPF of 35 or better we are spending longer periods of time in the sun. Dear Ayla,

I first purchased Nature’s Pharma “Healing Oil” to use on my 3 year old son.  He suffered from extremely dry skin.  To me it felt like reptilian skin.  This was true for most of his body.  He would scratch himself so hard that he would leave scratch marks everywhere.  His swim instructor commented on how rough his skin felt and said it felt similar to the skin of those suffering from psoriasis.  I was desperate to find a solution. Hesitantly, I used several over the counter moisturizers but nothing worked.  I did not want to use these moisturizers because I know they are filled with tons of chemicals that are bad for your body.  The skin is the body’s largest organ, and when you put these chemicals onto your skin, your body absorbs those chemicals and that can’t be good. 

A friend recommended the “Healing Oil” so I took her advice and bought some.  I know that the “Healing Oil” is made up entirely with pharmaceutical grade vitamin E, and there could be no bad side effects to this product.  So I decided to give it a try. 

When I first received the bottle I saw how small it was compared to the big sized over the counter bottles.  I thought I was going to blow through several bottles in one week.  However, once I felt the consistency of the oil, and noted how concentrated it was, it became apparent I needed to use only a small amount for each application.   At first I put the “Healing Oil” on his skin after each bath.  I could immediately see the difference.  It took about one week for his skin to feel and look great.  After that, I started using the healing oil every other bath time.  That was enough to maintain his skin and keep it moisturized and looking great.  Initially it was difficult to get my son to sit still long enough for me to apply the oil.  I explained that this was going to help him with his itchy skin.  Soon he noticed the change and would eagerly lie down and wait for me to apply it because he wanted to feel better.  Now I use the “Healing Oil” on a bi-weekly basis and his skin remains soft and looking great. 

I use the “Healing Oil” for many different ailments.  It works GREAT as a lip moisturizer!  Chapsticks tend to create a filmy cover on my lips and wears off in a matter of hours.  The “Healing Oil” on the other hands penetrates my lips, gives me immediate comfort, and the chapped lips are gone!  I also use for fever blisters.  I used to use “Abreva” which I thought was great.  The “Healing Oil” works much better.  I also use to on any scrapes, scratches or burns.  It shorts the recovery time dramatically.   It also works great on those really dry areas like your elbows or heals.  I will always have a bottle or two in my house because the uses of the “Healing Oil” are many.  I recommend you buy a bottle today.  You will not regret it!!

Dear Ayla,
Interestingly, the last few months since I have been using the Nature's
Pharma products daily (Healing Oil and Rosacea Cream), has been the
first time in my life when numerous friends of many years have,
independent of one another, said to me almost exactly the same thing
"you look really well these days, what are you doing". Regarding my
overall skin care routine, the programme I figured out for myself is as
follows:
 
1. Skin brushing in the morning before bath - whole body including head,
but not face.
2. For bath/shower I use sulfur soap - whole body, including head (I
have short hair and I'm balding, so its easy).
3. Healing oil - once daily after bath/shower.
4. Rosacea cream - once daily in the evening anytime.
5. Lysine - 1000mg at least one hour before lunch in the hot season
(intermittently in the evening in colder times) - always on an empty
stomach.
6. Zinc 20mg approx daily
7. Flax oil, 1-4 tbspoons daily with meals
 
Note: for Rosacea types (probably everyone), dental/oral hygiene is
always of utmost importance, as the situation in the mouth affects the
health of the whole body. (Oil pulling with seasame oil is an excellent
thing to do every morning).
 
I am healthy. No major problems. My overall baseline lifestyle has been
the same since 1980 : vegetarian, non-drinker, non-smoker, no drugs,
daily Transcendental Meditation and yoga practice. Also, I have always
made efforts to eat properly etc. I  mention this because it means that
I  know for sure when something new is working.
 
*By way of further explanation*
My fair skin type is perhaps more prone to minor skin irritations and
rosacea like tendency. Probably most men think this kind of thing is
just a part of life you silently put up with and don't bother too much
about. I did my best to look after myself and tried various tacks, but,
it was not until I was in my 40's that I decided to read about the
subject and ask a few more questions (including talking to women like my
sister as I realized that ladies put a lot of attention on their
skincare routine). I conclude now that many of these minor irritations
(including for example rosacea, dandruff, skin rashes, dryness), are
often just simple hygiene/skincare problems which many people (including
healthcare practitioners - natural and allopathic) just don't know how
to address effectively. You can get all complicated about these things
and change your diet radically etc, but it may often be just that simple
- appropriate hygiene and skincare measures required! Inner and outer
cleanliness go hand in hand with good health.
 
I do of course recognize that attention to lifestyle generally,
including the best quality organic food and other natural organic
products etc are the ONLY way to go for the long term to have best
health and quality of life. A strong immune system should take care of
most things automatically.
 
I am happy that amongst other things I took the leap and tried Natures
Pharma products. There is no question that I am getting significant and
worthwhile benefits from using the Healing Oil and Roascea Cream daily.

 Psoriasis is a common and chronic condition that usually causes patches of itchy, scaly and sometimes inflamed skin.
